I have a 2004 Nissan Frontier XE King cab 4cyl 5spd that I will be possibly using to tow a small Uhaul 5x8 trailer from LAX to ATL. The empty trailer weight 900lbs and I reckon I will load about 250-300 lbs in it for a total weight of 1200 lbs. In the bed of the truck will be 2 sportbikes each weighing 400 lbs, so 800 lbs total.

Currently my truck has a bumper hitch rated for 2000 lbs. Is it advisable to get a frame mounted hitch for the tow or will the bumper hitch be good enough?

The max towing of the vehicle is rated at 3500 lbs.
