Land speed record is 763 mph set in 1997 1000 mph? I can't wait to see it happen.

Is it faster than a speeding bullet? Some bullets, yeah.

1000 mph = 16.67 miles per minute = .2777 miles per second. (Whew! That's cooking for a car!)

5280 feet per mile X .2777 miles per second = 1466 feet per second.

30-06 Springfield takes off at 2910 feet per second.

So, the rifle bullet goes closer to 2000 MPH. It is, in fact, faster than a .22, and faster than a 45 ACP, which loafs along at around 1200 FPS.....
