2005 Volvo V50 Recalls & Problems - Motor Trend Magazine

I have such a beastie and once again the PEM is going out on me. The last time it happened I lived in AK so the recall didn't apply, but now I live in Michigan and that state is named in the recall. When we moved here I contacted Volvo and they told us there were no outstanding recalls on the vehicle....we pointed out that it now resided in MI and they seemed unimpressed.

I know the recall has not been as it relocates the PEM under the driver's seats, instead of under the car by the rear axles, collecting salty crud and shorting out inside. I have already replaced one at a cost of $272 and think Volvo needs to step up and honor this recall, the question is, who is the big stick?

Maybe try to talk with the warranty manager or something. Claim sounds legit.

Cheers from another former Alaskan! And good luck.

I would think the dealer would just do the recall automatically. Unless your particular vehicle is not listed within the affected VIN's for that recall.

Otherwise, if the dealer gives trouble, call Volvo's customer service line direct.

Honestly I have never heard of anyone having issues getting an open recall done.
