Seriously?

SUV Sales Rise: Cheap Gas Aids Sales of Cadillac Escalade, Lincoln Navigator

Obama auto rules: The United States’ latest SUV-buying binge shows how badly we needed President Obama’s fuel economy rules.

SUVs hot in best November auto sales since 2001

I am having a hard time wrapping my head around this. Are people really shying away from fuel efficient cars because gas is cheaper?

I saw a quote around somewhere....It is like buying a bigger toaster because the bread is so cheap. It doesn't make any sense and is so short sighted.

It has always been like people will be buy bigger vehicles only to sell them when gas prices go up again it is a cycle that seems to repeat itself quite often

The economy in general is picking up. Maybe lower gas prices and the sales of more expensive to operate vehicles is a bit of a coincidence.

Yes and if that seems strange to you, I think you are out of touch with most regular folks in the US.

We are in a low self-esteem society. People buy bigger vehicles, even when they don't need them to make themselves feel better.

Some people just like them, who knows if they need them or not, only they do.

Actually, when gas is expensive is the time to make a move for a V8- no one wants them and the price of the car does down.

I like having a gas guzzler as I find gas pumps are a great place to meet women I can't afford to take them out as I spend all my money on gas but it's nice to meet them

I still intend on buying a fuel efficient vehicle when I purchase my next family car. I don't trust the gas prices won't go back up. I mean, why wouldn't they? Plus, for something that isn't fun, I don't see the point in burning the money.

Left to their preferences and without the sobering effect of high gas prices, American consumers will opt for bigger vehicles with bigger engines. oddly enough, my UK born and bred bride also likes her Suburban. Me, I'm thinking that resale on diesels will tank, I'll score that TDI cheap while everyone is all intoxicated on cheap fuel, and when not if) it goes back up again I'll be sitting pretty.
