What do you think will be the popular overall car form in...say...20-30 years from now?
That depends on what the fads at the time are, SUVs could be out of style, they could be perceived as "douchey" and "my mom had one of those" (like minivans now). The majority of car buyers 20-30 years from now are the little kids of today, will the trend of having fewer kids and having them later in life continue? Will being "green" be a higher priority to them? Will gas be so expensive that small cars become more common?
They still make the Ford Falcon Ute in Australia, and it's very cool so I hope so. I restored a 1963 in the 90s, then sold it and got a 1972 El Camino that I drove until about 2007. Neither the Explorer Sport Trac and Chevy Avalanche never caught on like the trucklets did.
One thing all cars in the future will be is BORING ! They have already gotten that way for the most part, with a few exceptions, like Challengers and Vettes. I can't tell one car from another any more.

But the biggest difference, I think, will be that future cars will more and more be powered by electricity/hybrid power. As our love for cars dies, they will become more and more simply point a to point b vehicles, so we won't really care how they look or how they perform.

I drive an SUV and it is definately not boring! It will out run most sports cars and has lots of fun electronics. I chose it not because it was an SUV but because of its performance and fun factor.
I think the future will look just like today, a mix of everything because one style wont make everyone happy.

Is it made by Porsche?
For all intents and purposes, mixing performance and SUV really doesn't work well...the platform simply isn't designed for it. The Porsche example (and its sister vehicles from VW and Audi) is the only real exceptions.

That's becaue you aren't interested in new cars. If you were, you could tell them apart easily at a glance, like I can. Younger people can't tell OLDER cars apart qanymore. I see that online all teh time with peopel asking "what kind of car did i see?" about older cars. I've posted the graphic before about how cars form the '40s and '50s all looked alike other than grilles... I know you've seen it.
And a lot of new cars are NOT boring, from MINI Coopers, to Ford Focus STs and Fiesta STs (and the new 320+ hp Focus RS).

You obviously haven't driven modern electric vehicles, as electric motors deliver maximum torque right off of idle. My Volt has almost 300 lb ft of torque and it scoots really well from 10-50 mph and is quite a bit of fun. The Spark EV has 400lb ft at idle. The BMW i3 really feels liek a sport BMW with excellent accelleration up to about 80 or so mph. And then, of course there's the Tesla model S that can run 0-60 in less than 4 seconds...

So is the BMW X5 M and X6 M, the Range Rover Sport Supercharged, and of course, there have been the Trailblazer SS and it's sister, the Saab 9-7x Aero (look them up) and Jeep SRT Hemi in the mix of performance SUVs. All of which are quick and actually handle very good, not just for SUVs, but for cars in general...

Nope, I have the X5M, exact color posted above. So not one of the ones you listed as the only real exceptions lol
We will finally have the rocket-propelled flyng cars, that 1950 Mechanix Illustrated articles promised we would have by the 1980s. Oh, the ignominy of being a forecaster.
