Don
^ This.

I really hate riding while someone else is driving. But I just adjust the seat to my preferred position, and latch the seatbelt very securely. Then...I don't hang onto anything. Don't need to. Once in awhile, I wince, but I try to be quiet!

In a car with a high center of gravity, like a jeep or a van, I alternate between holding the door handle and putting my elbow on the window as a brace. Sometimes it's nice to hold the above handle like you are riding the subway.

If the driver is tailgating and about to run into the car in front of us...

I grab the door handle with my right hand, grab the seat with my left hand, and stomp on the "imaginary brake pedal" with my left foot!

No, none of the above, and none of the above. However I do sometimes lean into curves slightly to control motion sickness, especially the way my mom's boyfriend drives. Also I briefly tilt my head back at the moment of coming to a complete stop, for the same reason.

If my 96 year old dad is driving I hold anything that I can grasp. I also curse, shout and threaten.

1. When riding in the car do you usually hold on?

B. Sometimes

2. If you do hold on, which of the handles do you usually hold?

A. The one above the door - In some vehicles (the Jeep Cherokee), it is comfortable to hold like riding the subway as someone mentioned.

3. If you do hold on, when do you usually use the handle you selected?

A. The entire car ride - if it's just comfortable, see comment above
B. On sharp turns - in this case I could use any handle that is available.
