I am reading some of the comments and wish I knew when most of you were on the road. Some of the things that you guys try are crazy. Your body is telling you to sleep. You might just end up killing yourself or having to live with yourself after killing someone else.

Aside from caffeine, sunflower seeds are surprisingly effective!

Cessna was the second one that came to mind. A F4 was first.

Listening to stand up helps me stay awake, laughing tends to shake off any tiredness or sleepiness. Comedy Central channel on XM.

This is what I usually do as well. I find that listening to sports radio usually keeps me focus while on those trips.

When I had undiagnosed Sleep Apnea some 20 years ago I think I must have learned to "sleep drive". Thinking about it since I am treating the SA scares the hell out of me.

On expressways I try to stop every third rest area, use the rest room and walk the length of the parking lot to restore the circulation and reset my brain. On back roads, especially if I am riding my motorcycle, I stop in small town diners or convenience stores. I avoid alcohol like the plague when driving.

I drive a lot 1k-1200 miles per week (5 days)

I do get tired in the afternoon,,,i don't drink coffee anymore,,

3 things,,,, I have hand/grip squeezers in the car,, this does work,,i also have resistant stretch bands and will use them with one hand,,,,also have a resistance bar,,,that works very well

drink lots of water!!!! do stomach crunchers,,,
if its cold out stick your left arm out of the window let the cold air come up your arm,,,this will wake you up..

of course hit the rest area,,,jump up and down,,

chew gum,,,

yes the radio works,,if at night listen to George noorey and the crazies,,i think they have saved thousands of lives,,,,because its intriguing and your eyes go to the sky and sometimes it creeps you out,,,but keeps you awake

scream,,, as loud as you can,,,,,it can be with a song,,,but scream it,,,,this works wonders!!!

ive actually fallen asleep at the wheel,,,went down over a bank ..... and was sooooo very lucky ,,I missed this huge tree

after that I tried doing all the things above and it works
