One of my neighbors on Long Island has a one owner Volvo, original engine, transmission, paint, never garaged he bought brand new in 1967.
He has around 3,100,000 miles on car. Yes he has over three million miles.
He is in the Guinness book of World Records. I doubt anyone will top him as it is a non-commercial vehicle that is one owner. Most high mileage vehicles that cross one million are commercial but even there crossing one million is extremely rare and crossing three million is insane.
Owner when he dies he has Vehicle already donated to Volvo Museum there will be no second owner. The Volvo museum is fairly confident it will stay there as the highest mileage car in the road as by that time it should have 4,000,000 million miles.
If you drove 50,000 miles a year it would take you 80 years to get to 4,000,000 million miles.
200K is the new 100K. With routine maintenance and care, most vehicles should be able to do this without too much fuss.
I have 160K miles on an Infiniti G35x...all put on there by myself. I promised I'd hit 200K before I got rid of it and got another. Just routine maintenance so far
My 2001 Buick LeSaber has just over 170k. I have owned several cars, including a VW bug and a SAAB 99 that went well over 200k before rusting out. I was given a Chevy C-10 pickup with well over 500k (many summer trips to Alaska from Connecticut). We used it for another 10 years before we sold it as a farm truck.
I had a 1994 Dodge Ram 3500 CTD that had 276,000 miles on it when I got rid of it.
I had a 1984 AMC Eagle wagon that had over 200,000 on it when I got rid of it.
My current Dodge Ram 1500 will turn over 200K this year (it has a little over 196K right now). In fact, it just might turn over 200K next month!
I'm at 184k on an 05 Colorado. Will hit 200k around Jan '16, assuming all goes well.
Only major thing was a transmission rebuild about a year ago at ~172k.. It wasn't slipping or anything, but the fluid was burnt..
I've had a fuel pump go out on it, MAP sensor.. CPAS go out twice (Cam/crank position actuator solenoid) and the wiring to the MAP sensor go. Cleaned the Throttle Body about 5 times..
All in all, for 10 years, going on 200k miles.. Not bad. I'm holding out hope for 300k on it. The engine is spotless. Obviously, can't tell what's happening internally, but.. the fact that it's not burning or otherwise losing any oil is a decent sign that all is well.
I haven't even come close to 200k on any other vehicles.
If I would ever have to rebuild a transmission before 200,000 miles...............I would buy a different brand next time .
Yet, you say....................."Not bad "...........?
My 2007 Chrysler 300C AWD Hemi just hit 200,000 today. First car I've had that has reached that mark, and for the most part it's been smooth sailing.
Any others with that or higher? A client of mine had a Buick that went for 462,000. I would like to see my care reach that. Just got to hope the lifetime bumper-to-bumper warranty doesn't void itself.
does used count. i bought at 75k but now its about 215k.
funny thing about bumper-to-bumper warranties is that bumpers arent included (isnt it only mechanical parts, maybe not) ?

My odometer is broken.
