Few years? Not sure when they started cheaping out, but it seems this problem ran with most cars built between 1985 and 1995.

Angry see how you like it when

I have a 2000 sierra with over 200,000mi on it, has never given me a single issue and dose not use any oil. I have friends who own imports with not very many miles and have already have been in because they are breaking down. 2 of then have traded in there Toyota 2007 Tacoma on a full size Chevy Silverado 5.3 and it gets better mileage. GM has the most fuel efficient vehicles on the road to day. At 1 on point in time for a couple of years whene Japanese had better quality than north American vehicles but not any more go see for your self and look open minded.

Also if you still have a job and you want to keep you job I would recommend buying a north American vehicle. The north American auto industry employs over 7 million people if they go broke because we did not support the north American manufactures which are making the better vehicle now then are economy is hoped, if you think it is bad now tan think again. You could say japans cars are being built in the US but the chances of getting a Japanese vehicle assembled in the US is 3 out of 10. my dads 2008 sierra Denali with the 6.2 403HP engine you have a 10 out of 10 chance of it being made in north America. Oh ?did I forget to say it gets 20Mpg mixed driving.

The last poster makes a good point. My mom has a '04 Tacoma, and my dad has a '06 Silverado, both are quad cabs. My moms V6 Tacoma drinks almost as much gas as my dad's V8 Silverado. The Tacoma may be smaller and have a smaller engine, but it runs at a higher RPM on the highway causing it to get bad gas mileage.

Something is wrong with that Tacoma then as I have owned both vehicles. Especially in the city the silverado gets alot worse mileage. It has noithing to do with RPM.

Hate to tell you this, but my little Chevy gets better gas mileage than many of the import cars, and gasp!!!! it was cheaper. Not to mention dependable, and very inexpensive to buy parts for in the rare occurance that it needs work.

The SmartCar will obviously just drive underneath the Hummer, thus avoiding an accident. It's practically small enough.

Not being an advocate for the smart here, but unlike the smart the nano will behave like a matchbox in a crash...
