Hi there,
I'm looking at a 2001 saturn SC1 series coupe. The guy is asking 1500 and KBB is 1379.00
It has 238k miles.
Is this reasonable? Outside of the car looks really good, the inside is really dirty...

Thanks for your help. I really dont want to spend more than 1300.00 but dont want to offend the guy.

KBB is just a guide, nothing more. It's not set in stone. Come back at $1,000.

What is there to offend? It's a 14 year old Saturn with 240,000 miles with a filthy interior. Unless it's just pristine with new tires all records of maintenance and has no issues I wouldn't offer anywhere near 1300 and sure as hell wouldn't offer 1500.. Saturns aren't sought after cars. i would seriously start my offer at 800 and maybe go up a few hundred.

Of course he is asking $1500. So would I. It is easy to reduce the price, but it is impossible to raise the price if somebody just HAS to have it!
I always price for sale items at a little more than I really want, to give some bargaining room.
I recently sold a car dolly. I was asking $700 for it. A guy came, looked, and offered me a very low price. We settled on $575. I was happy with the money, he was happy thinking he really got a good deal.
Make an offer. The worst that can happen is the guy will laugh at you.
