If you are like most folks and can't fathom spending 40k or more on a car, your options are somewhat limited. Hell, a fully loaded sienna or odyssey mini van are over 40k. A fully loaded pickup can be over 50k. I've been researching for months, and it seems like the Ford Mustang is the best dollar for dollar fun car out there. Spend a bit more money and get the gt track pack and you'll be even quicker.

The fox body mustang has long been the go to car for folks on a budget who want cheap reliable power. I believe the new mustang is one of the best values in a long time. Say "it's a ford" all you want, but you get a shtload of car for your dollar in the new GT.

Any new mustang owners? Can you confirm if the car is as nice to own as it is to test drive and drool over?

It's 200# heavier than the outgoing model. Gas and a driver puts it over 4,000#. What the hell...from the company that owns Aston Martin...

I feel like I am always the negative voice here in the automotive forum...

As a long time Mustang fan I have recently lost my interest since the redesign. I love the interior but feel that the exterior has too much of a European feel. I would purchase a slightly used Shelby GT500 that's a few years old for less than what a new Mustang would cost...now that the best dollar for dollar fun car out there.

I own a 15 GT and it is literally the most fun Ive had in years. I also owned an 05 GT so thats my point of comparison. I kick the living sh* out of my 15 daily. Im gunning it from around 60 to 90 on open stretches of freeway almost every day, and its just awesome. I am in love with the 5.0 V8. Truth be told it doesnt sound as nice as far as engine growl as the 4.6 SOHC but it is just powerful as all get out. The great thing personally for me is that for 30K i drive a car on my daily commute that is faster than literally 99% of other cars on the road at that time in my area. That is one hell of a dollar to horsepower ratio.

The new for 2015 Mustang is actually a solid car all around. They really took care of the complaints I've had over the years. I thought pre 2015 cars were very cheap feeling and Ford could never get the interior right until the latest car. I'm personally excited for the new GT350 and GT350R which have a flat plane crank V8 and will sound like no other Mustang on the market.

I love everything I've seen and read about the car except the sloppy handling and the excessive weight. Make one in carbon fiber, please. Or maybe just not in lead and pig iron or something.

It doesnt feel overly heavy. I was a bit worried because my 05 had a curb weight around 3600 and the 15 is a bit heavier, but the massive power increase negates any perceived weight. 430 horses vs 300. And more than that the 15 is so much more aerodynamic so it feels slicker not heavier.
