I witnessed the wreck of s Border Patrol vehicle. It was snowing and the Ford Explorer spun out, went in the ditch and rolled over, coming to rest right side up in the ditch. It was witnessed by another motorist. We got together and rated the wreck as a 9. It would have been a 10, but it didn't catch fire. The Border Patrol agent was not injured, just shaken up. He was from Georgia and unfamiliar with icy roads. Best quote of the day; "It didn't look that slippery."

Our city bought 50 Chargers to give them a try. They don't have them anymore as they were a maintenance nightmare. Most were sitting in the city service center. They replaced those with Tahoes. The cost to run one was incredible versus the old Crown Vics. Those got passed down to the code compliance and inspections bunch as they don't put the huge mileage on them. All of the cruisers are now Explorers and they love them. Great reliability, low maintenance (so far), good gas mileage, and plenty of room for all of the electronics. They just finished taking the first order of 285 Explorers with more to follow.

The two LE's down the street just picked up two Yukons. The department is switching over to Yukons. They still have some Impalas running around. State uses a lot of Silverado crew cabs with Camper shells.

Now they are all black with hidden lights.

Seems to be a movement towards "Us" against "Them".
Yeah in one town near me they have several Chargers that are unmarked & everything is blacked out. 5% tint all the way around including the windshield, and those blackout headlight & taillight covers you used to see back in the 90's on them lol. We call them Darth Vader bc there is nothing that is not black on their vehicles.
