Why is Navigation important? Why is red paint important? Why are leather seats important? Why are 4 doors important? You see my point? For some, being able to accelerate quickly is an important feature to have and they are willing to pay more for a car to get it. Just like people will pay more to have navigation as a factory option, or they will pay more for leather seats. If 0-60 times aren't important to you, buy a slow car and save some money.
Oh okay. It's just an optional feature that some people like and want? And people are willing to pay for it.
i was thinking about this on the way home, my car has not been over 45 mph in i dont know when. whenever i go to work, store, here, there. there is always somebody doing 30 in a 55 and no way to pass. you and 42 other cars will be behind that car for thirty miles. stop lights every 200 feet. it take me 45 minutes to get to work. its only 12 miles.
so why have v8 and v6 why not everybody have a 4 clyinder, even big f350 ford trucks, a little azz four cylinder. it never gets over 45 mph anyway so why bother, just once i would like to do the speed limit and go through a green light.
0-60 times for me has always been a barometer for how fast a particular car might be so when I'm sitting at a light next to a fellow in a buick that can do 0-60 in about 8 seconds and I'm sitting in a hyundai that can do it in 9 seconds, I won't bother trying to race the old guy looking over at me with his one good eye.
From as far back as 10 years old, I recall looking at the 0-60 time just to get an idea of how fast a car might be over another.
Didn't help me when I thought I could get in front of the old man when I was driving my Audi and there was a 2 lane merge up ahead. He did not want me to get ahead of him.
Do people seriously "race" each other at stop lights?
