EMMELOORD, Netherlands (Reuters) - Motorists nostalgic for the time they could sit tight while attendants braved windswept garage forecourts to fill their tanks may yet see those heady days return -- compliments of a Dutch robot.

what could go wrong? well we could invent one more thing to add to the list of things to give us an excuse to be lazy... oh and i forsee free gasoline spillage on the paint at every fillup
Seems some of you (yo vanilla excluded, obviously) have never had to stand outside and pump your gas on a rotten miserable sleet-blowing-straight-sideways winter day.
And maybe they could finally ditch the pimply-faced pump monkeys in Oregon and New Jersey where the state governments apparently believe their residents are too stupid to pump their own gas.
Years ago in Illinois, gas stations were required to offer both self-service and full-service islands. The self-service islands were cheaper by several cents per gallon (when gas was under $1 per gallon). I always opted to pump my own not only for the savings, but I'm just particular who touches my car. Many attendants were sloppy when they put the nozzle in or took it out causing unnecessary spills on the paint finish. When I pump my own gas, I'm very careful to avoid this - especially on my Corvette.
Bottom line is, I wouldn't use this. There is too much room for error or something to go wrong on this type of contraption.

can't disagree with you there, i pumped gas in 0F with a wind chill of -30F the other day. longest 5 minutes of my entire life lol. but, a robot won't make it right for me! (and it sure wouldn't have been able to open my iced over gas door either!!!)
I'd rather pump my own gas too. The only time I wished I could have avoided the ritual, was when the DC Sniper was picking off folks at the self pump and other public locations in October 2002.
They still have attendants pump your gas in Japan, you never get out of your car which was fine by me!!
