Not as much as my Suburban.

My family used to have several 1990's Tahoes and ones from the early 2000's. They were like tanks, with minimal maintenance. It was easy to work on by mechanics as well.

I know the new ones still have heavy-duty components like the frame, engine and transmission. But are the newer ones still as reliable and tanks like the older ones?

I'm not a Nissan fan but I have been looking at them lately. They don't sem to rust out as badly as Suburbans do, ours runs fine but it is a disgrace to look at.

What I would like to know is why GM decided to discontinue the K2500 for this latest version of the Suburban. We don't want or need a pickup truck and I have a ton of miles on my 2004 K2500HD. Currently looking for a 2013 K2500 with low miles as a 1500 won't cut it for what I tow.

Might of had something to do with the 2014 Silverado/Sierra Redesign and falling sales for the K2500 Suburban due to higher gas prices before they dropped off and GM making the stop gap 1/2-ton Suburban and Yukon XL 1500 but they are said to be build a new 2500 3/4 ton HD Suburban next year though.

ukrkoz never answered our question from about a year ago, but since he's still around here somewhere maybe he'll see it if we bump it. What do you drive?!

CAFE standards versus profit margin on a low volume model.

Interestingly, there is a option for a Suburban HD which is a true heavy duty beast if you have a fleet number through General Motors. 2016 Chevy Suburban HD: Heavy-duty SUV | GM Fleet
