Would you rather own the 2013 V8 BMW M3 or the 2014 6 cylinder turbo BMW M4, and why?

I like the looks of the 4 series more. I haven't driven one yet to make a decision over the 3, but just for looks I would go with the 4.

Just say no to turbo. The 2008 Z4M was actually the last car that BMW made that's worth driving (NA engine with hydraulic steering).

So the M4's styling is refreshing and the interior is a big step up, but will you miss the naturally aspirated V8 that provides that amazing engine sound, that BMW have discontinued?

My whole thing is, do I buy an M3 with low miles while I can before its too late, or do I buy the M4 and embrace the future...

I have, and I think the newer BMWs are great for cruising on the street. They're loaded with user-friendly electronic and luxury features. They look nice too. They're just not as engaging on the track or even autocross. When you drive a car with a non-aspirated mechanical steering, then immediately step into one with either a turbo or electronic steering you can easily notice the difference behind the wheel. Electronic steering just doesn't feel right.

M3, unless you enjoy listening to fake engine music piped into the cabin. I forget if it's the M4 or another new model that does that, but it's pretty lame!

Haha nice. How do you guys feel about the previous generation M3 then? 2002-2006. They can be found for less than $20,000. Worth it?

The E46 is considered one of the best M cars. It's solid but not as quick as the E90's.

The E46 is my personal favorite and the most reliable M3 ever produced. They represent a good value right now as they have depreciated quite a bit. Each generation gets quicker and quicker, but steering precision is getting worse and worse. E46 provides a good trade-off. I don't think you'll ever need the extra horsepower the E90 provides.
