I had my MDX delivered when I purchased it back in 2003. Since the car I picked did not arrived from factory yet, I did all the paperwork first. Sales person delivered the vehicle and I finished all the paperwork.

My fried purchased a Chevy truck a few years ago and they delivered it to his home well.

I've delivered cars to customers before, way out in the middle of nowhere, but if it's a slow day and I had a legit customer, I would have taken the car to them to look at, especially if they had purchased from the dealer before or we had already verified their credit.

Nah...That was a ploy back in the 80s-90s to get you to like the car. They figured if you drove it around for a weekend you would want to keep it. Lots of folks did.

I knew an older guy who drove Town Cars only. The last one he bought - before he died - was a 2000. He and his wife went to the LM showroom where they picked out their two new cars. She picked out a Mercury Gran Marquis. The guy wrote a check for them and they were delivered at noon the next day. The dealer would come and get them for oil changes. It depends on who the customer is and what type of relationship he has with the dealer. He had bought cars from the dealer for some time.

I happen to stumble into the Mercedes dealership here in '84 and was looking at the 240D. The salesman suggested that I could leave my Accord and take it for the night. I declined. Nevermind I was a 33 YO school teacher. I knew that once I took it home, I would rationalize every way to get it. I didn't have the money for it and wife would have killed me. LOL Granted , those 240Ds were dogs but I still see them around belching out black smoke.

my dealer did that as we had settled on the price etc. another dealer for my Mom went about 50miles to get her check from the credit union rather than wait for it to be mailed.

Carmax won't deliver. Would be nice if they would. If you buy a car there, you have to get it off the lot immediately. I bought a car there and had to come back and make the purchase at a later day when I had a ride over. Also, they will not take deposits on vehicles. I probably won't go back to Carmax, but had to try it once.

I had a specialty Porsche used car dealer offer to send me a car from 1000 miles away with a 5k deposit. I declined, just didn't want to feel pinned into the deal if I didn't want to buy it. Shipping was non-refundable (probably $1200 roundtrip at the time).

Letting someone take the car home is called "The Puppy Dog Closing"......after you fall in love you can't return it!
