Actually, sliding on and kicking up dirt is loads of fun, in any car!

I love the commercials, makes me want to be back on the track.

OK, I'm not trying to be on your case, but what you wrote struck me funny and I had a good laugh. Right now I know 4 people that drive corvettes. One is in a senior home with my stepfather, but is a spry 82 years old and somewhat of a lady’s man and his vett is only one year old. My brother in law is 75, he has two for show only. Our best friend, she is 70 years old and drives it everyday. One of my neighbors in his late 60's that drives his on nice weekends only. I wonder, are you by any chance in that age group.

Who the hell drives like this, and what is the purpose of showing vehicles sliding sideways, be it in sand, or the street.
Commercials don't have to make sense, they have to sell a product
The perfect commercial is the one that will make you get up and go and buy the product
In my opinion, the best commercials are food commercials,
I've seen a few that by the time I'm done watching them I'm drooling.

It's the exact same reason why cars are designed with facial expression, to make people think that a car is more "bad a..." than another, even if everything inside of it is the same.

I just don't get it.
Particular are the Nissan ads for their cars.
It looks so dammed stupid, especially when real drivers don't drive like that.
What are they trying to prove?

Bob.
The American public seems to have a collective IQ of about 80, so they make silly commercials to appeal to the lowest common denominator. Maybe it works on occasion?

Hence the invention of the 84 month car note.

You've nailed it. My son was that guy. We'd be in the car together and he'd say, "Hold on mom. Watch this!"

That might explain why I'm almost 40 and still haven't paid more than $5000 for a car (commute car)

Yeah, those Nissan ads with the sliding cars and hip yuppie dood-bro offering "THIS IS THE LAST CHANCE TO . . . " type commentary are sort of laughable. Aimed at 18 year olds I guess . . .
The most annoying to me are the ones where the bratty, entitlement kids are being catered to. One where they race a school bus, and the Suburu one where the kid breaks radio control toys to get his Dad to dirt track the Subie. Big stoopit. When the lil gurl offspring breaks the horse toy on purpose, I just found that very offensive. Not witty or clever. They know their markets though, I guess there are people out there who might think this is humorous.
