UPDATE:

bought my own parts





he said if i bring my own parts the cost for the labor will be about $300.

seems...better?

i'll get the tires myself somewhere and have someone mount them for $20/ea.

i kind of agree with you there. but now i am nervous to even DRIVE the car since he said the back brakes are metal on metal and the caliper could seize at any minute.

not sure if he's lying about that either though.

When you bring your own parts to places you don't get a warranty on the work. So you may save upfront but if any of those parts fail you have to pay to remove and replace them at a shop unless you can do it yourself.

It's all business...you want to take money out of the business by getting your own parts so they take away the warranty.

It's up to you if you want to take that risk.

Also the price seems fair to me. People don't mention that the brakes have to be bleed also after replacing calipers...more labor.

Why the heck do you need new calipers?!?!?! I have never replaced my calipers before. You replace rotors and pads?!?!

I did do a disc brake conversion on my classic car and added calipers, but it cost me less in parts than what this fool is quoting!!!!!
