Meoo7gold, that $12,000 listed for the Ford transit is JUST for the conversion to 4X4, not including the van itself to begin with. BTW, the article linked has an error in it: it states that Transits have rear-wheel drive. They do not; they have front-wheel drive. That's one of the reasons I bought mine.

There appears to be lingering confusion regarding the difference between a Ford Transit and a Ford Transit Connect. The Transit is a full size van with many options for configuration, including high roof and extended length variations. The Transit is a rear wheel drive vehicle. The Transit Connect is a more compact vehicle that is a front wheel drive configuration and is much more compatible with urban use and is preferred as a delivery type vehicle in city settings.
This is a good example why going to a dealer and learning what is available and what the options and configurations are can be a really good idea.

This is a good example of how Ford could have been a little bit more creative in naming the vans IMO to avoid some confusion.

I doubt that anyone who spent more than 10 seconds researching, because they were in the market, would have any confusion.
