I don't know what it is but this must be the year of people BACKING DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY IN THE WRONG DIRECTION because they missed their exit! People, this is friggin CRAZY!!! I have witnessed this at least 4 times this year and it really gets me angry without exception. These are not mistakes, they are not a minor lapses in judgment nor are they the simple results of inexperience; this is downright stupid, scumbag, behavior of knuckle-dragging morons who should have their licenses suspended. I should keep a bucket of 3/4" ball bearings in the car for whipping at the backs of these idiots' vehicles. A few years back I was involved in a high speed accident because of scum who decided to this; rear ended as I avoided (braked) for the individual who had backed down a highway split and went to merge from a dead stop into 70mph traffic.

I don't have road rage, no point. I tend to shake my head and laugh at the stupid things some drivers do.

The goal for anyone driving should be to minimize the impact you have on other drivers around you. That means if you're texting and swerving back and forth in your lane you're doing it wrong. It means if you are holding up traffic behind you because you can't figure out to safely pass or merge, you're doing it wrong.

Most road rage incidents could be completely avoided if people would just pay attention to whatever the hell they are doing.
As several on here have shown, the mature and experienced driver realizes that they, and ONLY they, are responsible for any road rage they might indulge themselves in.

No one else, no matter WHAT they are doing or HOW asinine it might appear to other drivers, is responsible for your road rage. Irritating, yes. Maybe dangerous. But not responsible for your choice (and it is a choice, as several on here have testified from their own experience) to rage.

And, anyway, do you really want to admit that other people who you clearly consider to be inferior to yourself have that much control over you? Really? Because that's what you're doing when you say anyone else MAKES you road rage. You're handing control of yourself and your emotions over to them.

To answer the OP's question, I used to experience occasional incidents of road rage. Then I got over myself and realized that I didn't have to do that and wasn't proving anything positive about myself.

Well -- my $500 rolling stop ticket has cured me. I drive the speed limit, I stop ( and count - two, three) at signs and right turns on red, and the difference as been, well -- eye opening. I'm in general not as stressed, more alert when driving. At this point, it takes a lot to make me rage on the road. Pretty much I just shake my head.

We all look at phones and texting as the problem -- but in all honesty, the basic issue is people are multi tasking while driving. And walking. And biking. When you are out and about in your various forms you should be PRESENT IN THE MOMENT. Cross walks increase pedestrian visibility to drivers. Bikers need to follow traffic laws. And drivers need to realize they are driving a potential weapon. Stop phoning, texting, eating, drinking, putting on makeup, fiddling with the radio, watching porn (seen it!).... and drive. Cars are not mobile living rooms -- no matter what manufacturers put into them.

Spoken like one of those inferior people you mention who has no business on the road.

I just wanted to point out this part of your statement. Any regular on this forum knows that you are precisely the problem driver that is always causing incidents, and the above statement just says that you think that you can act like a complete imbecile and whatever happens is not on you. Typical.

I love the bolded comment you made above. It is SOOOOO true !

I'm a fairly passive person, but people that violate the bolded rule above to excess do tick me off to no end. Ok, so you merge at 45 mph into traffic going 70 mph.....really ????

So you have a stop sign and you're afraid to cross a main road until you can't see any cross traffic coming for 1 mile....thereby holding up a line of cars 20 deep. Really ?????

So you're passing someone in the fast lane on the freeway by going 1/4 of a mile per hour faster than the guy in the right lane. Takes you 9 miles to pass them while cars are lining up behind you....but my golly you're going to be side by side blocking all others for 9 miles come hell or high water. Seems logical to you that it take 9 miles to pass him :-( Really ?????

If I see someone coming up fast behind me, I'm never afraid to pull into the slow lane even if I have to slow down a bit to merge into the flow of the slow lane. It's not my job or desire to slow anybody down. Secondary benefit, once they pass I can get back in the fast lane and know there is somebody ahead of me to get the speeding ticket....lol.

I should expect this from you. I haven't even posted much in this forum, but the few posts that I've read in regards to driving has you telling people that they are the problem. My guess is that you are likely one of the people that consistently has people angry with you on the road.

Everyone is responsible for their own actions, yes, but that does NOT mean that you should be able to cruise along at 20 and hold up traffic. And if somebody gets ticked off at you for doing that, it's their choice to get ticked off, but that does not absolve you of doing something stupid, rude and completely lacking courtesy.
