IIRC, turbos take time to "spool up", therefore create power in the higher RPM ranges.

With proper setup of the compressor, turbine, wastegate / variable vanes, boost controller, and fueling you can make a turbo do whatever you need it to do.

I rented a 2016 VW Jetta with the 1.4 L turbo engine. I was shocked at how peppy the car was.

You must be recalling from 1980.

Small turbos you'll find on modern cars spool ridiculously quick (usually full boost between 1500-3500rpm) and tend to run out of breath up top. There are other technologies which are efficient low and high in the RPM.

Look at the torque range. Unless you are racing most people don't need top end power, they want useable low down and mid range torque for getting around town and merging onto highways.

Here is a dyno for a 1.4T Sonic Turbo

How many miles are allowed the lease and how many miles do you estimate to drive as a driver? (What you will need to do is set aside weekly miles driven X amount charged over X miles by lease. So f you are charged .10 a mile and you drive 2000 miles more than your maximum mileage 2000x.10=200 so you would need to set aside 200 dollars for the end of the lease.

The only problem with leasing and driving a car as a delivery service is that's a lot of wear and tear and possible damage you will be charged for.

I agree, I would worry about that being a lease. They do get you if you go over the limit of aloted miles.
