Owned - Not really a true sports car, but I do miss the '97 Toyota Celica drop top I used to drive daily. Not fast at all, but it was insanely reliable (NEVER a single problem in nearly 4 year of driving it, not even CEL lights coming on), and a joy to drive during Spring and Summer for the obvious reasons. The 5 speed manual was a major plus. Would probably still be driving it, had it not been rear-ended by someone in the snow/ice...
Own - My 1991 Firebird. Currently, it's a sitting project (that was drive-able for a little while). As funds allow, a 350 engine will be replacing the lowly 305 in it (that needs a rebuild anyways), and some drivetrain/chassis upgrades to support the additional power. I knew it was gonna need TLC when I bought it, but it seems damn hard to find these era of F-cars with both t-tops and a manual transmission (actually, it seems to be getting harder and harder to find decent examples of these cars at all...), and it was dirt cheap - so I went for it!
1967 stingray. Except every time you hit a piece of gravel on the road, you got slapped on the butt. That thing could do a 90 degree corner at 35 mph and not even sway.
There was a little MG convertible that was a lot of fun.
I didn't own either one. I have always had pickups.
I agree, did 7400 miles in two weeks in a friend's '79 911SC on a coast to coast and back trip, nice driving car and GREAT brakes.
Wow how comfortable was that trip, 911 aren't known for comfort per se!
