Need a small reliable used car for local driving for work. Came off a lease with my 2012 Mazda 3 17K miles on it. 12.5 K to purchase it. Also looking at 2013 Ford Focus SE hatchback previous rental car 51 K miles for 9.5 K. I tend to keep cars forever so looking to ride either into ground. I average 6K miles per year all local stop and go miles.

Which is more important: extra year younger or the difference in mileage?

You know the history of the Mazda, that alone is reason enough to choose it over the ford.

Exactly. Why buy a vehicle you know nothing about over one you know the history of.

I'd rather have a Mazda3 over a Focus.

A Japanese make over a Detroit make? Keep the Mazda. They are reliable.

Another vote for the Mazda, many reasons.

You know the Mazda, so unless there is an issue with it, keep it.

The Focus, I am sure it is the automatic, which would be the dual clutch transmission, just google issues people are having with them and you would walk away.

If you don't like the Mazda, I would shop for something other than the Focus.

I have had a 2014 Manual transmission Focus and could tell you they are not built very well.

I would take the Mazda over the Focus. You already know the car. Even if you didn't know the Mazda, IMO is better built than the Focus. If that Focus has the dual clutch dont even think about it. Look up the clutch issues Focus has
