Moral of story, don't be screwing with drivers in states with reasonable gun laws.

One states bird flip is an other states bullet through the side of the car.

I get these sometime going to work in the morning. Its even a 4 lane road and they dont pass. Im going the limit maybe a little over. I never hit the brakes. One split second they're not paying attention and run into the back of me. I just let off the gas and slow down. They will get impatient and pass. I dont like people riding up close behind me with their high beams on. Thats annoying. Again I let off the gas. I leave home with plenty of time to get to work. Im in no hurry.

His problem? The paint is going bad and he imagines people make fun of him when they drive by and see it.

Oh, that guy? ugh.

It was starting to **** me off how much of an ass he was being so I tapped my breaks to get him off my ass... He backed off and then came up really fast behind me, almost hitting my car. He then got even closer, and I was like "That's it, this kid is going down."

My friend was in the passenger seat and I was like "You buckled?" He was like "Yeah, of course I am." I was like "Good, HOLD ON!!" and slammed the breaks. Normal people would, in turn, slam on their brakes, swerve to get out of the way, do any avoidance strategy possible not to hit the car in front of you, but this kid? No... He slammed right into the back of my car and pushed it about 20 feet. When we finally stopped I had to drive my car off of his (he hit me so hard, this car was stuck on my car and I had to drive off of it).

I looked in my rear view mirror and saw his car totaled. His hood was smashed up to his windshield, whole from front the car totaled... I grabbed my digital camera and got out of my car ready to beat the **** out of the kid. I looked at my car and there was no damage at all. It bent my license plate and totaled his car. He hit my bumper and trailer hitch, it demolished his whole entire car. It leaked antifreeze, transmission fluid and oil all over the road.... I started laughing and went and sat back in my car and waited for the police.

.....Just bent my license plate.

One less ricermobile for the world to deal with

You know, if you'd have done this to my Jeep, my bumper would've tapped the back of your head.

This is what I usually do. I know it infuriates the tailgater so I'll slow wayyyy down.

Exactly! Think about it. That kid was probably just so excited to drive around in his car. He's young, full of testosterone and stupid decisions. We've all been there before.

You shouldn't punish him and ruin his car, car insurance premiums, and safety just because he was tailgating. That sort of makes you seem immature just like the tailgater.

Used too you could swerve around like you were drunk and they'd back off. That doesn't work anymore since swerving all over the road is the norm.

Oh, god who would think to pull over let them pass... probably with good anger management skills, lack of a need to prove their manhood, and who has a handle on their blood pressure.

Like probably so many here..Many have had tailgater experiences over their lifetimes...The incidences of "Road Rage" however has escalated in the past decade..SO yes..Do not engage..move over..let the asshat get past you..hang back as it's highly probably this Asshat will run into someone less likely to do the same...

1) Do not put your foot on your brake
2) Do not dramatically increase speed, then deliberately slow dow ( surely will infuriate an unstable driver)
3) Given today's technology..try to get a picture of tailgater's car/plate..and keep as evidence ( not available back in my driving days)
4) Call in dangerous driving to authority with Lic Plate# and location to 911 ( for evidence IF something should happen ( be sure you mention location, last exit # if on highway etc)
5) Take a deep breath and be thankful you are still alive

What if the tailgater has a snowplow on the front of their truck? Would you brake then? I saw one last winter at an intersection. The guy rear ended a woman and really messed up the back of her SUV.
