Was Isuzu a good brand? I recall their Amigo, Rodeo, a little coupe with "Lotus tuned suspension" badges, a small truck. Our local Ford dealership sold their offerings. Of course, there was those Joe Isuzu commercials....
I think they made good stuff. The 1981-82 LUV, P'up, Impulse, NPR (not forgotten though), etc. Everything they made was pretty cool.
One of my first cars was a 1987 Chevy Celebrity. It was 10 years old when I got it, but I loved the thing. It was a virtually unkillable car, and I always get a little nostalgic when I see one on the road. That is getting rare though.
The Celebrity was the best-selling car in the United States in 1986.
I had an '81 Citation v6. Lasted 323k miles before I gave it away. Good solid reliable car. And I always wanted an X-11 version:
They were homologation specials for SCCA road racing, with major suspension, engine and chassis upgrades to be suitable for endurance racing and autocrossing.
I had a 1983 with 4 speed. Great daily driver. Solid feel. Good performance. I later had a 1995 Pontiac Grand Prix SE that reminded me of that car.

And the other side of the coin... a coworker back then sold his 1980 Citation, in 1983, for $125, it was a giant POS after only 3 years and 70K. To put that into perspective, the cheapest new car at the time cost about $6000.

Citations were great in the snow, I would rent them near ski areas. The car had like 65% of weight on the drive wheels.
