Alright, so I'm in the market for a nice sedan. I've been thoroughly satisfied with Nissan throughout the years, and so plan to stick with them with this one. Wife has a Benz and we have a Ford SUV.

I've narrowed it down to 2 specific cars: 2011 G37 Sedan with ~70k miles for $13k, or 2016 Altima S (new) for just under $20k.
There are pros and cons to both. G37 being more "fun" to drive, especially for me, while still being large enough to seat the kids when needed. Altima is brand new, still not a slow car despite the 4 banger, and I'm a fan of its CVT. It gets considerably better gas mileage. Con, it's the definition of a grocery-getter/soccer dad vehicle.

Which would you pick? And why?

Altima is slowwwwwww , rickety (from the rental I recently had) , and $7k more.

I'd pick the G37 for sportiness and lux-comfort, especially if it's going to be a DD.

I drove an Altima and didn't find it "slow" considering what it was... And yes, it's going to be a DD. Thanks for the input.

You mention the fun factor of the G37 for you.

You can nit pick this decision all you want and convince yourself that all the logical and sensible reasons point towards buying a new Altima.

Buy the Altima and two months later buyers remorse will hit pretty hard.

You prefer the G37. So get it, have some fun, and as a bonus you save seven grand!

I'm a huge fan of the G37, a great driver's car for a daily driver. That said, with 70k miles, I might opt for the new car, particularly if the performance is suitable for you.

G37 is a really nice car, especially for $13K.

What's the reliability of the G37? I'd assume pretty good?

Post Go with the 2016, solely because it is new production.

I am a big fan of the G37, but if those are your two choices, go with the newer of the two for a daily driver. That said, the Infiniti will be a lot more fun to drive.

Very reliable; however any car that has been on the road for 5 years is going to start showing it's age soon. Plus the G37 will cost more to operate, as the performance comes at the cost of using premium gas and (as OP noted) the Altima gets much better mileage.

With the G37, expect to replace the tires and brakes every few years, and spend more doing so than you would on the Altima. Not because of any design flaw, but because you'll be using them up faster.

Gotta agree...the fact that the OP listed the G as fun and the Altima as a grocery getter points to where his driving bias is...as such buyers remorse seems inevitable...OP could split the difference and go for a Mazda 6, a grocery getter that's a bit more fun...but based on the choices and my interpretation of OP's words, I suspect OP will be happier with the G

check here for reliability data ... Car Reliability Comparisons current Nissan products are not what they used to be. I'd say Toyota or Honda.
