As traffic and congestion continue to get worse because of our rising population it should be no surprise that drivers are getting frustrated. I feel like drivers are becoming more aggressive and impatient. I've had my license for more than 30 years and nothing compares to what I see now. Drivers are doing more inane maneuvers to get around a couple of cars just to shed off 5 seconds off their commute even if they're not in a rush. I don't get it. We're all going and heading in the same direction so why drive like you own the place? It isn't a race and it's not a competition. Nobody is thinking you're cool and it just pisses everyone off. I won't be surprised if it gets worse. Drivers are doing more stupid things on the roads because there's too much to handle. Thoughts?

Yup. I just kind of let everything go. I'll get home 2 minutes later with my truck and my body intact.

Well, there's also more drivers than there were 20 years ago. The more drivers, the more problems....

There are more vehicles crammed into a too slowly expanding system of streets and highways, so the aggressive drivers are more concentrated.

They are more entitled, that's for sure. When I was younger, the folks I hung around with were bikers and race car drivers - it wasn't like we didn't like speed - heck, some of the people I knew were people who modified motorcycles to go to the Bonneville Salt Flats to try to break the land world speed record. However, everyone I knew respected the speed limit, even if we occasionally violated it, and knew that it applied to us, and when we were pulled over for speeding that it was our fault, not the cop's or the speed limits. We didn't think we were so special that traffic laws didn't or shouldn't apply to us and we took responsibility for the predictable consequences of our actions. Not so much today. And that me me me attitude is at the basis of bad driving. Until you can acknowledge that the rules are there for a purpose that is NOT just to get money and that we're all in this together on the roads and have to drive accordingly, and that it's not your road solely, you're going to be a lousy driver no matter how technically proficient you are because you refuse to take into account everything and everyone else on the road as more than just something in your way.

Growing up and learning to drive in Dallas, there was plenty of traffic there. We just dealt with it better emotionally.

Nope. There were always drivers like that on the road. There's just a lot more people on the road now, so the number of aggressive/impatient drivers is much higher.
