Hi everyone I was wondering if any of you have had to deal with a hard to find tire size and where do you go to get them? Or do you just settle for a tire size that is not what your car calls for? My car has small tires size 175-70 R 13 and I have been told they are hard to find. Any advice on where to go to get the best price ? Also what do you think of getting some used tires in hard to find sizes instead of new tires?

Tire rack, discounttiredirect.com, Discount Tire stores. The discount near me has two different tire choices, in stock both tires are in stock at most places. Discount tire in Ocala has 3 choices. I am curious, what car comes with such small tires?

My 87 Honda Prelude had that size tires. The best thing is to get 14" wheels then you can get 60 series tires for better handling than 70 series.

With the internet these days no real such thing as hard to find tire sizes. If you can't find it locally TireRack.com or DiscountTire.com will have them. If they don't then search other smaller online retailers.

Hard to find? I just looked on tire rack and they had several options. Heck even Michelin still makes them in that size.

a very common tire on such vehicles as Toyota Celica's in the 1990's.

a 'net search will show many possible options for tires in this size, from cheapie house brands to top name brands.

You're not going to save much versus buying new. You might get lucky and find a set of 4 new-ish tires on 14" rims at a salvage yard that fit the car but they'll still want money for them.

You don't want to buy on the internet. Shipping, mounting/balancing, and tire disposal will eat you alive. You want to buy locally.

I hit the Firestone web site for the local Firestone tire shop. $280.45 out-the-door for Chinese Primewell tires. They're round. They'll pass inspection. They have a 40,000 mile warranty. The Firestone shop will probably do something for you if they fail. If you're tight on cash, it solves the problem. You should be able to find a better deal than at a chain like Firestone on Chinese tires but that was the easiest web site for me to check.

All of those things minus shipping you have to pay for regardless. Most places will even give you free shipping. There is no reason not to buy online if its cheaper.

Hyundai accent but I now also have to decide if I should get new tires or sell the car it is giving me problems. One front tire went flat on me a couple of days ago and I know I need to replace the other front tire immediately. I have been driving on the spare. I think the back tires may be okay for a while .
