In Hawaii, most fuel dispensing hoses at gas pump are so long that no matter how you park your car at the gas pump -- on the right side or wrong side, or too much to the front, or too much to the rear -- it does not matter. Because anyway the hose is long enough to reach the fuel door.
But it is a different story in Mainland -- no matter it is Maine or California. I have been embarrassed more than once that the hose could not reach my car's fuel door while cars lined up behind me.
So nowadays whenever I rent a car in Mainland, the first thing I have to keep in mind is the location of fuel door.
But why can't the gas stations on Mainland extend the length of hoses to match those of Hawaii?
