Just purchased a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. Love it (it's my second Grand Cherokee). I noticed, though, that the headlights occasionally flicker at night. It happens both on high and low beams, maybe once every few minutes. Called the dealership and and awaiting a call back. Also checked Jeep forums, no similar issues that I saw.
All the headlight bulbs being defective from the factory is rare. Do the interior dome lights flicker at night when idling? If so, could be an alternator issue.

I haven't noticed the dome lights since it's usually when I'm driving at night, and it's off. I'll let my car run for a bit tonight with the dome light on and see what happens.
Hey is your AC on when that happens? Sometimes the AC compressor coming on can make the lights flicker/dim momentarily
Yeah, it is. I didn't even think of that. I have an appointment to bring it in Saturday, but I'll see if it flickers when my AC is off. Even if it doesn't, isn't it a bit weird to have my headlights flicker with the AC on? This would be the first car I've ever owned that did that.

If the AC compressor kicks on it just momentarily drags down the accessory system. It's usually not noticeable but in some cases it is. And my service truck did it. At first I thought there was something wrong too
Substandard ballasts. Ballasts are part of HID headlight system. They flicker either due to bad contact somewhere or due to voltage drop or bad ballast, or C- all of the above.
When one owns a new vehicle that is under warranty, it isn't necessary to know the cause of the problem, and even if you offer a diagnosis, that opinion will be politely rejected so that the dealership can engage in the manufacturer's required diagnostic protocol, prior to performing the needed repairs.
All you need to know is that the manufacturer OWNS that problem, and it is mandated to fix it for you, via their agent, the local dealership.
