Our local Mercedes dealer stopped allowing it in the late 1990s when it became popular for the air miles, and since limit it to service and parts only. It was costing them a fortune when people charged a $50,000 car and it cost them 3% or whatever it was then.
Has anyone ever put a new car purchase on a credit card?
Just curious...is this even allowed?Mae
Many car dealers will not accept a credit card for payment of anything outside of service/repair.
I know in Illinois and Iowa no one will accept a credit card for payment of any new or used vehicle.
So true. If they let you do it, then you should be able to do better negotiating price.
I personally know people who put 10 grand on their CC for their new car. Someone here once posted that he was a car salesman & mentioned that a customer can put his whole car on CC if they pay full freight. I can easily believe that as well.
I am wondering why you would want to charge a car purchase with a credit card?
