Was only curious because I've always liked Jaguars since a family friend used to own a few. It sure is a sharp looking vehicle though and would possibly think about buying one next winter, however really like the Porsche and Audi SQ5 just as much. Would be a hard decision!

Reliability and Jaguar should not be used in the same sentence.
No, I have never owned one and never will. FWIW, I have been working on cars for a living for almost 40 yrs. Jaguars included.

Have spent alot of time researching the F-Type sportscar for a purchase. The comments about poor reliability on new models and the ability of TATA to own and improve this line of cars are rubbish.

The F-type has been reviewed very well and highly regarded by their owners.

The reason I quoted the above post is because its true, they depreciate HARD. The 2015 F-Type R has deprecated from $115k MSRP to $75k ask prices on cars.com....yikes

I'd buy an XK.
I've know of an '07 with 10K miles on the clock for $28K!
Beautiful car.

My mother has had several Jags. General maintenance is more expensive than a Honda or a Mazda, but they've been pretty trouble-free.

Almost all cars in this price range take a big dump.

To me it sounds like a buying opportunity for the used Jag. Let someone else eat the depreciation. If one is concerned about out of warranty repair costs, buy a good extended warranty or learn how to repair it oneself.

That's right...you can't single out Jaguar for deprecation when Mercedes, BMW, etc. do the same thing....drop like a rock.

Most of these high-end cars are leased... which brings up a question.

How do the lease companies figure these leases when the cars depreciate as fast as they do?...

It doesn't seem like the monthly rate...say $700. a month for 3 years would be enough to cover all the associated costs and still make money.

Maybe there are some really big "factory to dealer" incentives for leasing that we don't see.

My '05 Jagwagon cost me $10.5K when I bought it in 2011 with 64K miles on it. It probably had around $45K MSRP when it was new.
I drove it for 2 years, put 20K miles on it and traded it in for $8K. A hundred bucks a month is not bad depreciation for a luxury car.

Only repair was a headlight bulb. 50 bucks to repair it because it was behind some stuff.
X-types are AWD... real good in the snow.

Well done and exactly my point. The same reason I am looking to buy a used EV or plug-in over the next few months, they have depreciated like rocks, gas is cheap so everyone is buying larger cars and there are 2-3 yr old ones for <$10k.
