You aren't rich or poor enough for him to help you.
There is truth in my statement. He bailed out GM, AIG to prevent further catastrophy . And Takata as a service provider is important for the entire auto industry...
And if some one asks why he has to bailout some Japanese company, the answer is same as to why he has to provide democracy in Syria or Iraq..
The last time I took my '05 Mazda 6 in for an oil change they had the parts to fix the drivers side but not the passenger one. A couple weeks after that I got another notice from Mazda saying the passenger side parts were still not available. The notice also said not to let anyone ride in the front passenger compartment until the repairs are made.
I'm thinking the automakers will likely get stuck with it (which means eventually the consumer will get stuck with the cost anyway). But I could be wrong...
Of course, that answer kindasorta implies they *were* using Takata parts to do the recall repair at some point. And I believe an article in the NY Times also said they were. But as of now, no. No more Takata inflators.
Of course, that answer kindasorta implies they *were* using Takata parts to do the recall repair at some point.
No implication needed. It was widely known as Honda had to recall some of the airbags they installed to replace bags that were already replaced under the recall.
Got a recall notice about the airbag saying that "parts have not been prepared in your area yet...avoid seating an occupant on the front passenger seat".
A few months later another notice: "Parts have been prepared in your area. Contact your dealer to schedule an appointment to replace the inflator module".
So I call my dealer and they say the part has to be ordered and takes four to eight weeks to come in. Called several other dealers and they all said the same thing. WTF? Many thousands of cars around here need this part and they're ordering them one at a time for an "URGENT" recall repair?
This is the first time in 30+ years that Toyota has disappointed me.
Lucked out in the end though....one of those dealers called me back a few hours later and said they had an inflator module that was ordered for a customer that didn't show up and that he could hold it for me.
I've been looking for a new dealer and I think I've found him! (my old dealer of many decades was bought out by bunch of you know whats)
don't know first the drivers side then got a call from Honda about the other side. Called the service person ordered part and called me. I even did decline the day it was to be installed so it was given to another person. Anyway he did my car the next week with no problems on parts maybe being in Florida with an older Honda might have helped.(2002 CRV)

Coincidentally, I just left the leasing thread. Makes me glad I leased and returned all those cars.
