I can't ask this in any brand-specific forum because each has their own bias. So let's see what you guys think. Which one would you choose and why? I realize they are completely different animals, which may be why I'm so torn. I've driven both and they both have so much to offer.

The Porsche is sexy, sophisticated, well-mannered and a blast to get the engine revving and hit the twisties. It looks like art and sounds incredible

The Vette is the perfect example of power when you want it and fairly tame when you don't. It;s sinister, loud and beefy while also being a fairly comfortable ride. It too is an absolute blast and that V-8 is a beast.

I owned a C6 Vette which I really enjoyed and have also had several German cars, which were great too.

This will be a leisure driver only and will not be used for commuting, and will have a manual transmission. Please help me solve my (very First World) dilemma.

Thanks!

While I wouldn't mind a Vette the Porsche would be my choice.

The other consideration may be a very slightly used 911 vs a new Z06 given the price differential. That would be if I decide to go with the P-car and if I could find one optioned the way I want it.

Do you have a mullet and like to wear a baseball cap? If so, buy a Corvette. Otherwise, the Porsche is the way to go.

Are you image-conscious enough to worry about how you look to snobs who look down their noses at the little people beneath them? If so, get the Porsche. Otherwise, get whichever one best meets your needs, tastes, and budget.

If someone can afford a $90k+ car while going through life mulleted, more power to them. I don't think I could pull it off.

In all seriousness, to insinuate that the Z06 is in any way low-brow is a bit ridiculous.

I couldn't care less what image the car portrays and they both meet my needs, tastes and budget. Maybe I'll hit the lotto and can make it a twofer!

I have yet to drive a 911, so I can't add too much value to this thread. I'll spew out some thoughts anyways.

A big V8 with a lot of torque in a fairly light car is a LOT of fun! I'd imagine the 911 is much more refined and luxurious, while still offering excellent performance... But it's hard to quit that torque!!

A friend of mine just picked up a new Z06, nice car, but it looks cheap. Has a running board type thing that looks like plastic, the exposed bolt on spoiler also in my opinion also looks cheap. Performance wise is awesome, but that's about it. Later in the day, I went to my Porsche dealer and looked at a Carrera 4S. Cheap looking is not a word to describe it. Both will hold their value, maybe look for a CPO turbo manual? But even the 997.1 turbo's seem to be in the $80k range for an 08 and probably going up in value.

Though they were earlier models, my brother had a 911 and sister had a Corvette. I preferred driving the Vette I think because of the torque....since I'm 6'6", the Vette was more comfortable for me as well.

I currently drive a 7 series Bimmer but I plan to buy a Charger SRT for my next car....going low brow trash car I guess....hope I can grow a mullet!
