Looks like I was the only one to watch it yesterday...
Not sure. I am glad to have the old crew back. I sure miss Stig. Like really miss Stig. Two drivers they had one looked like a hired hand actor designed to look like a redneck NASCAR driver(?)(he'd rather fit into pure stock driver) and the other one - no comments.
They overdid in some parts, "killing" all their guests and I am totally confused on where the heck that show actually runs - USA? England? World?
But it's still g'ol Top gear.
I also don't think they'll get far with sarcastically mocking Americans - on American soil. That's not gonna fly well.
Mike Skinner isnt an actor, he is or was a NASCAR driver. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_S...(racing_driver) and honestly it was the only segment that feel flat, it felt forced and out of place. Otherwise it was Top Gear, and glad its back. It appears its going to be a traveling show, each week in a differend country.
I said "one looked". And "designed". I didn't question man's ability to drive or being a driver. I question "part he played". Pure stock driver - yes. NASCAR - no.
First episode was great, just like the old show. Nice victory by the 918! I actually like that they show who was doing the lap times, and how Jeremy got them to change the translation when F1 guy was speaking!
It was very much like the old Top Gear, but with a much bigger budget. Their 'challenges' episodes will probably be more entertaining, just like they've always been.
i really liked the old show with May/Hammond and Clarkson this new rendition of the show just aint getting me enthused,as a result i'm no longer a fan of Top Gear like i once was.
Huh, I'd forgotten all about that show. I'm not going to watch it right now, and I'm never on Amazon for their video (find it impossible to find anything to watch there, so I tend to default to internet or book) so lets see how long it takes for me to actually watch...
I'm sure there will be a teething process, shouldn't be TOO long but it's still going to exist.
I enjoyed it but would agree that there were a couple points where things felt a little forced. Killing the celebrities got a bit confusing and long winded IMO. I was not so sure about the lines they had for Skinner either, but that is a new element which is a work in progress (since Stig did not talk).
I look forward to future challenges and more straight up reviews. The three supercars story was fun.
Of course when speaking of their tent they managed to get in a politically incorrect quip of the sort that constantly got them in trouble with the ultra-liberal BBC: 'We're going to be roaming the world in it, we're going to be like gypsies, only the cars we drive are going to be insured.'
Like others here, there were parts that felt a bit odd, especially the random drone shooting, and more like a lead up just for the final joke of all the 'zany things we did this episode'.
That said, I enjoyed it, and laughed more than cringed, so we'll see where it goes. Looking at some of the other teasers from the show's hype-team, there's some good stuff in store.
Hopefully we'll see it get better with time?
