So - is it illegal to drive with your headlights on and one is burned out even if it is fully daylight and you're using them as "daytime running lights" only?
One of my headlights just went out and I won't be able to fix it for a few days, what with the holiday. I don't need to do any driving after dark but I will be out on the road and I like to have my lights on just so others can see me better (I have a dark car and people seem to often turn in front of me otherwise).
Would I get pulled over by "advertising" one headlight is out even if it is not during a dangerous time to be without a headlight? Should I just leave them off entirely?
Google the bulb change and see what is involved. Some cars you have to take half the front end apart to get to the bulb. Others - it takes 5 minutes at most.
Most autoparts places will install a bulb you buy at their store if it is an easy job. Let them do it.
But if you do nto get it changed - yes. turn off your lights. I had one out and got pulled over for it six times before I wised up and just turned off the lights (except at night). Never got pulled over for it again.
My car (truck) is ont that changing a bulb is a complicated lengthy process. Then it turned out the problem was a loose wire away.

The time it took to write the question was co-equal to a trip to Pep Boys for a new bulb. Or two. I'd not drive more than 24 hours with one out for pretty obvious reasons. It's a parking-lot fix, ten minutes at the outside, on many cars and trucks.
So, I'd drive with driving lights only, which is what I usually do anyway, if insisting on "not" changing it for a few days.
My Tacoma blew bulbs every year or two, they have a finite operational lifespan. I had all that replaced with a retrofit Xenon kit by the local wizards for about a thousand bucks a year ago only, admittedly solving a mosquito problem with a bazooka. I had them wire up the "driving lights" to a lower lumens output of the main lights, since driving with them on all the time is generally a good idea for visibility. My truck is black, I suspect others can see me better now.

Hahahah - not to return the snark but the nearest Pep Boys is 2 hours away - I'd already looked them up before posting so this SHOULD save me some time...thanks!
