Just spoke to Kia Finance. Turns out I owe $58.32 NOT $5800. Why the first woman told me that is beyond me; I have excellent hearing so I don't know what happened, just glad it's nothing. I was seriously ready to run away from home.....

Oh that's good news! I am glad that it was just a misunderstanding.

True - I didn't even bother asking what the $58.32 was for; I was just so relieved it wasn't $5,832 that I told her I'd get a check out Friday.
Glad it worked out. I suggest you get paperwork showing why you owe $58.32, and that $58.32 is all you owe - that is, they won't come back later for more.
I wonder why you owe $58.32... did the finance manager at the dealership from which you purchased the replacement vehicle make a mistake?
I will call Kia Finance back and ask exactly what this $58.32 is for; I was too relieved when I found out it wasn't for $5,832 that I didn't even ask. I need to learn to stop jumping to conclusions!

My guess would be accrued interest, but the OP said it was for "taxes and other such nonsense" so who knows.
