I can't explain it or rationalize it, but I love the BMW X6 (which is the X5 minus the utility but with a higher price). I also liked the Acura ZDX (similar in profile to the X6, but with the Acura 'beak' on the front). They only managed to sell 6,118 in five model years (2009-2013).
The Nissan Juke was on the ugliest car list last year but I like it.
Its been knocked from it's perch.
Toyota found a much bigger ugly stick and beat down the Mirai and Prius with it.
IMO, if the Aztek were released today it wouldn't even make the podium at the Automotive Uglympics.
I not only owned an Aztek, I searched it out and bought it new off the lot, a 2001 that I bought in may of 2002 for about a thrid off the sticker. It drove well, was comfortable, would carry 14 sheets of T-111 siding (or any other 4x8 sheet material) and mine had the tent which was decent to camp out it. Oh, and would get nearly 30 mpg on the highway, and best of all, no matter how ugly people thought it may be, I didn't have to look at it while I was driving it. What let it down really was the GM build quality, or lack thereof. The transmission destroyed the planetaries at 60K which required a rebuild and then the BCM started dying by degrees, first the tailgate, then the heater controls, then the windows and seats and security system. I left it to my kids and my son took the drivetrain and swapped it into a yellow Aztek, called it Chiquita and drove it for a couple more years. If a only competent car manufacturer had built it.
That looks like a photoshop job. The front clip is definitely photoshopped.
That's also the ugliest thing I have ever seen in my life.
An ACTUAL Grand Wagoneer (my Dad almost bought one. Almost!) actually has a certain weird appeal to it, that I could get with.
