I needed a car of different color, and the dealership promised to bring it over from their other location. I've signed a simple one-page paper with a dealership basically saying "I agree to purchase this car from you," and paid first lease payment. It was just so they can protect themselves, so that they wouldn't pay for the transfer and I would bail, which I understand.
They were supposed to bring a car from their other dealership for me to lease within a week, but it's been two - they already sold one that they brought - and now of course since they have me on the hook, they're in no rush. They ignore me or just give excuses.
There is no date by which they have to bring a car. I haven't signed a lease or anything else. The dealership is legit, one of the biggest in the city, and best reviewed on Yelp which is why I trusted them.
Question is, can I get out of this and get my money back, and go to a different dealer? Or can they keep this up indefinitely?

Why don't you go into the dealership and ask? Why would you every sign anything without a given date?
Does "this car" include a vin/stock number/any unique info? If so it would seem they are the ones in breach of said contract if that car was sold to someone else.
If you have the time, you could file all the permits and picket them. You need to only state the facts and/or clearly label your opinions as just your opinion.
That might work even if the contract is "airtight".
