That's correct. I've met a number of these types. I had this discussion about what country NM is in. I'm not sure why any American would think NM is in Mexico. Sadly there are numbers of people, that seem beyond naive. Of course one of these people also thinks, Oregon borders Wisconsin. It's really very sad the lack of knowledge some have. I can understand why NM, would have USA on plates.
When I was placing an order with a manufacturer for my retail store years ago, the clerk says, "Wyoming. That's in Colorado, right? A suburb of Denver, right?"

One of my longtime employee's daughter went to Malta with the Peace Corp years ago when she graduated from medical school. He talked about her constantly, how much he missed her, so when it was time for Christmas bonuses I thought I'd be nice and buy airline tickets for he and his wife. I called a travel agency to get the price for them. We live in the sticks, so the agent asked me what airport we'd be leaving from. She said Billings would be much cheaper than any other close-by airport, so I said just price it from there.
I don't recall the exact price, but it was something like, "That would be $37.50 each for round-trip."
I didn't even know there was a Malta, Montana!

I did finally get the correct price, gave him a check and told him, "This is for you and (his wife) to fly to Malta to see (their daughter)." He replied that he didn't want to fly there to see her, and if he did decide to he didn't need me to give him money for it.
That's funny because most people here consider the current NY plate to be pretty ugly and actually like the old blue and white plate it replaced a lot better.
The new NY plates look too much like the old 1970's plates, plus it is so plain. I have one of the blue and white plates (bought my first car the year after they first came out with that plate).
True, and they lasted until the mid 80s. I was surprised that the original owners got to keep the original plates that came with the car, unlike other states- that force you to get a new plate style.
NY didn't force people with the old blue plates to get the new orange ones. We had a choice to keep the old plate or change up.
For me, any license plate with a website address, falls to the bottom of my list, no matter how beautiful the rest of plate is. I don't think there's any reason to have web addresses on license plates, it looks sort of tacky. Pennsylvania, where I was born and raised, I think was the first state back in 1999 to put a website address on their plate, WWW.STATE.PA.US, seriously!

1. Is Don Cherry still on? He has a very, er, interesting wardrobe.
2. If you google it you will find another meaning for those initials.
3. Do they still also make the yellow New Mexico plate? I really like that one.
4. I like the printed plastic plates. Delaware, maybe?
