did a coolant drain and fill, ran it for about 15 minutes after and found some pieces of crud around the rad. neck and the cap, see pics, should this cause any concern?

2001 pathfinder is new to me so not sure when was last coolant change.

cap looks new .. wipe off the crud and keep on trucking ...

It's fifteen years old and your not sure when the last change was? I'd take it in for a full cooling system flush. It'll clean out that crud and you'll know you have new coolant. It's easy to do, but you end up with a lot of old coolant to dispose of. Pay the $75-$100 and let the shop deal with it.

Oh, if you do this, do not go to quick change places like Jiffy Lube. Go to a respectable shop or mechanic that won't screw it up.
