So i have a 2015 Nissan Sentra, 48,000 miles. The problem i just noticed this week is that when i am driving on a highway and at around 70 mph, i cannot accelerate any further, the RPMs on the dial on the dashboard keep going back and forth between 2,000 and 3,000 RPMS, and only once i lower my speed a little does this stop and the car is fine. This is especially troubling when driving uphill on the higheay at this rate of speed . Anyone know what this problem could be ? There is nomcheck engine light coming on or any other sign telling me there is an issue. TIA
Problems driving at higher speed with no other symptoms tend to be fuel delivery issues. My guess would be bad fuel and/or a bad fuel filter but that's just a guess without knowing more. If you're under warranty, I'd get it checked out that way.

But there are other symptoms, namely the variation in RPMs. If it's a manual, the clutch is probably slipping though 48K seems awfully soon to have that issue. If it's a CVT, it may be hunting for some reason.
In any case take it to the dealer, that's what warranties are for. Be aware however that if it's a slipping clutch on a manual they're unlikely to cover it under warranty.
Hi. Sorry for the lack of info. It's a 2015 Nissan Sentra with 48,000 miles. Mostly highway driving. Automatic Transmission. Bought new, financed. No accidents . No codes.
I thought maybe if I added a fuel additive maybe that would work but I haven't tried anything yet.
A fuel additive won't fix the fact that your car won't exceed 70mph and it won't fix the fluxuating RPM levels. Take it to a dealer and have them look at it.
This sounds like a specific issue centered around the particular model. General fixes, like suggesting it is fuel-related, may not apply here, especially if it's some weird gremlim in the car's electrical system.
Highly recommend a trip to the dealer here...and I usually advocate DIY repairs
Nissan CVT transmissions are junk, well CVT transmissions in general are junk but Nissan's are well known for having tons of issues and going out early.
