Hi to everyone! I sold my car and going to move to my own country for a business deal. I`m gonna get back in 4-5 month. What i have to do with my tag? should i bring them back to DMV (FL) or i can keep it in my home and use it later for another car? someone told me that i should bring them to the Tag Agency (don`t know what is it) and they could keep it for a long time for some money!
No, keep them. When you register a new car in the future, if you have a plate to transfer, it will save you some money. I live in Florida too, and I am saving one plate I have for a car I am finishing up building. I think the impact fee is something like $200 if you do not have a plate to transfer.
Do NOT take it to the tax collector, keep it safe.

yes, to don you listen. save yourself some money and save the plate you have.
Florida requires you surrender your license plates if you don't immediately transfer them to a new vehicle or move out of state (Out of country would be out of state). After 4 months I doubt very much you would be able to transfer them to a new vehicle. For completely accurate information visit the local DMV and ask them. Failure to properly return the plate may result in your losing your license to drive.

I'm not so sure about that...
My wife and I gifted our spare car to my stepdaughter. The car was in my wife's name so she went over to the Tax Collector's Office to do the transfer. Stepdaughter had a car that was a rolling POS and she is junking it. They transferred the plate from her other car to the car we gave her. They told my wife to keep her plate in case she gets another car in the future.
This was just last month.
We're keeping the plate because at some point in the next few years we will get another vehicle that my wife to use for work.
