Have a Cadillac with the V8 Northstar that was my mom's car (05 deville) and it is smooth as glass and quiet. On the road , it was getting great mileage and in town, if I pamper it) it is not bad. I don't drive it that much . You can't get a V8 in a Cadilliac anymore so until something happens or it starts costing a bundle of money to fix, I am keeping it. Wife has the Lexus ES350 with the 6. Another smooth driving car with even better mileage . The last 4 cyl I have had were manual trans. and although noisier , they were fun to drive. They did struggle when fully loaded.
12.6s to 60 is hauling ass? A Prius would put one of those to shame. Modern 4 cylinders are nearly twice as fast as those old school V8s.
Ok maybe at take off but a duce and a quarter would leave that little tree hugging pos in the dust on the freeway. And you would be comfortable as hell doing it.
We have pretty much only had V-8s through today, and our future cars will likely be V8s as well unless we get a Volt. My sone has a supercharged 6 in his car. My daugthers both bought little buzzy 4s. But I do not see either my wife or I every getting something other than a V8 - ever (except maybe a volt or a Tesla or something for fun.) My toy car is a 4, but I would never drive it regularly.

Hard to find stats on the 50-70 for it. But from other Buick v8s of the era 50-70 was around 7s, just slightly faster than the Prius' 7.1s. So no, I don't think it would be leaving it in the dust and certainly not making up from being so far behind from a stop. They've got an extra 1,500lbs to lug around.
The fact that a big ol V8 is even remotely comparable to a Prius in terms of acceleration to begin with is laughable.

There are also TTV6s that are AWD and quite fast (like 0-60 in 5 seconds fast), like this one:

You stick with your ugly Prius that looks like a pregnant roller skate I'll take a Buick Electra 255 any time, at least you have room in that big ole land yacht, was like ridding on air. You could put your Prius into the trunk, this was a car not like today's cars. If you had a big ole Buick you were riding in style. That big ole 455 motor alone weighed more than the whole Prius.

You wouldn't find me in a Prius. I'm using it as an example of an outrageously slow modern car...
But despite the Electra being a much bigger car the Prius actually has more cargo volume, leg room, head room, etc. About the only thing it really has more of is width wise with hip/shoulder room. Modern cars devote much more of the design to cabin space.

Yeah I wouldnt want one of those land yachts from the 70's either, might as well just drive a full size truck if you're going to drive something that big. My ideal car would be something V6 powered like an Avalon or Impala, or maybe a V6 Camry.
Yeah, I do get the appeal of long highway cruises along on a couch(bench seats). But actually comparing numbers shows the performance and interior room isn't exactly as good as nostalgia makes it out to be.
Fact: In the USA more millionaires drive F-150 pickups for daily drivers than any other model of automobile.
Sure, but most farmers are millionaires... so that fact might not be saying what you mean it to say. :-D
