What do you know about CVT other than people repeating what they've read here and there? My son has an Altima and it feels no different and I am sure will last just as long. These internet memes are just amazing.

I've driven them, and I hate them. When I put my foot to the floor I want to feel a surge of power when the lower gear kicks in, you don't get that with a CVT.

Doesn't take much reading or knowledge to see why most don't like them. I personally don't like driving something that feels like a slipping clutch.

Enjoy the reading.

I can't imagine how tuned out you have to be to not detect a difference with a CVT. And despite the spin of them always being in the best powerband can be significantly slower. The Crosstrek manual is a full 2 seconds faster to 60 than the CVT.

Well, I have driven the Altima and that's exactly how it feels.

I don't have to read about it. We have one in the family and it feels just fine. The roads are packed with Nissans. You think if they were that bad people would buy them?

It's sad that your posting your opinion but won't even read the article I posted it. It may help you understand what the CVT is doing in Nissans. You clearly have little understanding of transmissions and driving performance. Especially the lawsuits related to these transmissions.

People generally aren't well informed when purchasing vehicles and care more about interior options and looks than performance. People don't generally think about transmission options, but in this case they should.

If you honestly can't tell the difference, you've never driven many cars or just don't have an understanding of how the CVT is affecting your driving experience. That's fine for many but also not fine for many. I'd never buy a Nissan because of it.
