I take aimless drives to nowhere all the time... either in my 350z convertible or Jeep Grand Cherokee.
I have "different" working hours than most and my drives are largely late at night anywhere from 11pm to 3am to just enjoy the act of driving and listening to my favorite driving music.
Can't imagine ever stopping enjoying this freedom, it's very therapeutic.
On the rare event that the wife and I have mutual days off we will make entire weekends out of our drives.

My wife and I take drives to nowhere in particular quite frequently.

End up stopping at a bar/restaurant to cap it off.

I use to love to just go for a drive. All my favorite local roads have changed in bad ways. Horrible road conditions including asphalt patches, potholes waiting for a shovel of asphalt, and shoulders falling away into the ditch. Increased number of homes causing lower speed limit and more frequent police with radar guns, increased number of stop signs and traffic lights added to once open roads, and phone zombies. There are still times I feel the pull of the road and go find a state highway that is still fairly open and less traveled. Sometimes I work till 11pm. Occasionally I have to work an additional 4 hours. Driving home at 3am will mean I'm taking roads that are usually busy with heavy traffic and regular stop lights. Just flying through those roads with little to no traffic.

Use to but not no more I use to just drive up and down Woodward ave in the evening to see all the muscle cars during the late 70's that's when some guys were still racing for pink slips. My older brother won a couple of nice cars that way. My brother had a 1964 Dodge Polara with a 426 Hemi all built up.

Used to really enjoy going for drives just for fun but those days are gone as driving has become a lesson in irritation every time i drive, too many nut jobs on the road and here in Montreal an obscene amount of construction leading to traffic congestion every where.

There's a particular little trafficked winding road I like to hit that puts a smile on my face rowing through the gears and feeling the G through the curves.
At least once a week, but usually my drives have some destination. A lot of my drives are over 200 miles, so it's a good idea to stop off and accomplish something useful along the way. It's also good to get out of the car for a bit.

All the time. I know every back road in the area.

(I will admit that more traffic, crappy roads with serious neglect, and horrible drivers make it less fun every year but I still enjoy cranking up the tunes and driving just to drive)

Not anymore.

With people on their cellphones all the time while driving, it made driving around a chore.
