Because without fossil fuels you would be living in the Stone Age. Everything from the asphalt you're driving on to the fuel for the bulldozers that strip mine minerals for your battery come from fossil fuels.

After you just got done saying that GM was genius for it. You're contradicting yourself.

GM uses a much smaller battery, so it can be fully charged on 110V in 13 hrs vs 4 days for a Tesla.

And that makes them genius? The Volt's all-battery range is a paltry 50 miles and then it basically turns into a Prius...it isn't a bad car but it's no Tesla. The Bolt is a much better car than the Volt IMO.

Its genius because you don't need a 300 mile battery to drive to work and back. Only an idiot lugs around more than they need just relieve themselves of rang anxiety. The battery is the most expensive part of the car.
You can drive a Volt across country on any road you like at any speed with the heat on full blast all the way without ever worrying about where the charging stations are. You can charge at home with a simple 110v outlet.

You remind me of the guy with a horse and buggy pissing and moaning in disbelief that anyone would be stupid enough to want to drive a Ford Model T...perhaps one day you'll understand.

You remind me of the guy with the Segway thinking everybody else must be in the Stone Age because they haven't jumped on the bandwagon yet.

So basically, your only argument boils down to some anxiety you have about not being first to adopt something.

Here's the flaw with the your buggy to cars analogy that hopefully you'll understand one day....cars are much faster than buggies and rigging up a horse and buggy is a hassle. Electric cars however do exactly what gas cars do only with more hassle.

The newest one isn't just for rich people. Electric cars will be the norm eventually. Hell back in the automotive heydays they had steam powered, electric, gas, peanut oil, alcohol etc powered cars. Gas won out because it was cheap and plentiful.
Once they figure out the battery constrains electric cars will sell even more.

But gas is still cheap and plentiful.

Let's check back in 10 years and see who was right, shall we?
