The Kia Soul is very popular among the senior set for being a small and easy to maneuver compact that has a high seating position for ease of getting in/out and visibility.
I was just about to suggest that. For some reason retirees seem to love them which is funny because they seem to be marketed toward young Millenials.
I always like the 2006-era Scion xA - it has a fairly "tall" seating height, IIRC, from test-driving one in Idaho Falls, in the same year. I loved the test drive, though the one I drove was an automatic tranny. Very fun ta drive - one can be picked up now for around $5,000. Built Toyota tough.
I bought a new 2015 Hyundai Sonata Limited when I retired. Great for around town or on a long trip. Mine has things like HID headlights, auto high beams, adaptive cruise control with full stop/start, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, 8 inch nav display with back up camera, heated and ventilated power seats and a whole lot more. Cost just under $30k.
It depends on where you live. Up in North Idaho, an older model Toyota Land Cruiser is popular. The weight, construction and size make it ideal for four seasons.
Jeanie Beanie - I now drive a 2011 Kia Soul base white 5-speed stick. Kia is really on their game - I bought a 1999 Kia Sephia brand new in Anacortes, WA, for $7,995 after a $2,000 manufacturer's rebate. That car had no A/C (you don't need A/C in western Washington) and no stereo. I immediately had an aftermarket AM/FM/cassette player put in. The speakers were already installed. Sounded great. The only other thing I did was after getting our taxes back I invested in some new radial tires and Konig Diva wheels for the small South Korean car. Amazing ride after that - the handling improved 50% with the new setup.
You might look in to getting a Kia Soul or a Nissan cube - you'll sit at a comfortable height and they're fun to drive. And fairly low-priced, getting good value, if that's what you're looking for. I know I sure am.

I split time between Florida and New Jersey and live in 55+ communities in both states (1210 homes total in both places) I can't recall seeing any Kia Soul's in either place,
Stop messing around, get one of these, 1975 Cadillac Fleetwood, no problem getting in or out, plenty of room, and it's a popular senior car.
