But the cost is a hindrance. Sedans are much cheaper to buy and own.
I think I made fun of you for that in that thread, but then I turned around and bought one.

I've seen 5 of them parked in front of my window at my store today. They aren't going anywhere anytime soon!

Fixed it. It had a typo.

There cannot be any more than five or six million of them left on the road in the USA right now.

Having a minivan means you've finally grown up and have to be responsible. But as I've told the new parents I've met "the hardest part of buying a minivan is actually buying it." Once you have it you wonder why you hesitated.

We bought a 2000 Odyssey and still have it. Kid number 2 is driving it now with a check engine light, 148K miles, and the typical Honda rust. But it starts everyday and I can take it to lumberyard.

They're disguised. They put hinged rear doors on them and call them crossovers.

Glad they are still around. I'm renting one in a few weeks to carry 5 people for a 16 hour round trip to a wedding. In my much smaller car, yes 5 can fit, but ugh.

We just joined the Minivan Zombie crowd and bought a 2014 Sienna! What a great vehicle (with regular tires). We used to own a Dodge Caravan, back in the '80s. Talk about a stigma! But now the Minivan seems to own the streets where we are, especially the Odyssey and the Sienna. IMO people with or without kids are wising up to the shape of the compact SUVs (like the CR-V) having been shrunk so much in terms of cargo space and headroom that you might as well be driving a tall sedan, so now it's back to the roomy Minivan. We also have a Forester, and DH referred to it yesterday as "the small car."

Yup. Minivans have more carrying capacity, and are more comfortable. They look better, too.

It seems to me they are making a comeback. I know several young families who've gotten them as their families begin to grow.

The Honda Odyssey is an extremely nice ride in my opinion.
